Leadership and Me

Hello, my name is Weiyu Huang. You can also call me Vicky as well. I came to America seven years ago after I graduated from high school in China, for my bachelor degree. I spent my first three years in San Diego Mesa College to study English and general courses. During the time in college, I don’t really know what I can do and Who I want to be at first, but I realized how much I used to love travelling and learning new cultures so I decided to choose HTM as my major.  I transferred to San Diego State University, Hospitality and Tourism Management for hotel emphasis at fall 2013. Now I am on my last two semester in school and I hope I can graduate on this August. San Diego State University HTM is the program that brings me into hospitality deeper, teaches me the skills for facing the real world, and shapes me into a strong and optimistic person.

Remembered the fist HTM I took in San Diego State, Professor Champbell asked us what is the different between management and leadership? No one really know the answer was. He showed us a sentence on power point “Management is doing the things right; Leadership is doing the right things.” – Peter F. Drucker. It is true! A leader is not only knows how to do things, but also knows what to do. A leader is not only shows people the way to success, but also walks the way with his people and grows together. To be a great leader, he or she must have some key values such as trust, creativity and humility. It is important to be humility to the people you working with because everyone have something that you can learn to. Creativity will help develop now idea and solutions as well as help come up with last minute decisions for difficult situations. And the most important is be a person that can be trust as well as building a good relationship with people that you working with. I hope some day I can be a leader can be trust, stay humility and have lots of grate ideas.

I hope that others can get to know me better through this blog and encourage them to lead their live from the Ground to see the beautiful Sky.
